Canonical lineage: S0 → S1 → S2 → S3 → S4-A. Technical experiments and manufacturing derivatives remain evidence, not cultural states.

TRANSPARENT REPAIR DECISION
The Decision Overlay is not another numbered state. It is the governance apparatus through which proposed repairs and preserve decisions are made inspectable before they become geometry.
MEASUREMENT EFFECT
The repair records accepted and refused actions.
What remains unrepaired is as authored as what is repaired.
ARTISTIC AUTHORSHIP
The mesh procedure can be reproduced. The authored cultural state is specific to the situated decisions about what counts as damage, what remains open and how intervention is disclosed.
CLAIM LIMIT
S4-A is an artist-governed technical counterfactual. It is not presented as historically correct restoration.
S4-A — ARTIST-GOVERNED REPAIR
Red-orange, amber and yellow identify artist-authorised repair categories carried from the Decision Overlay into the canonical Exact Patch Surface. Cyan marked preservation and is not painted as repair.
S4-A-FAB is the separate machine-ready manufacturing derivative. It is not a cultural state and is never used as the viewer geometry.
REJECTED TECHNICAL EXPERIMENT
S4-T is retained for transparency, not as a canonical state.
The instruction “make it printable” was allowed to become a global geometric transformation. The result demonstrated how a manufacturing condition can silently overwrite cultural form.
MEASUREMENT EFFECT
A technical requirement became a cultural intervention.
S4-T is valuable because its failure is inspectable. It shows that technical possibility and production convenience are not neutral.

S4-T — REJECTED GLOBAL SOLIDIFICATION
The aggressively solidified result is preserved as a methodological record. It is not the exhibition’s final descendant and is not used as the artistic fabrication master.
The approved response was to return to S0 as the visual source of truth, expose repair decisions first, and generate S4-A by adding only authorised local patches.
Evidence can justify investigating a repair without justifying a particular reconstruction.
